Transport is the fastest growing source of greenhouse gas emissions.
Whilst the relative cost of driving has been coming down, the cost of travelling by public transport continues to increase and people in the UK are making more journeys by car and travelling longer distances.
We all know that using our cars less is much easier said than done, particularly in rural areas.
Yet there are many positive choices we can make about our travel habits, from driving more efficiently and sharing a lift to work or school, to making more journeys by public transport, bike or on foot.
Visit Moving Forward - Somerset County Council's new travel initiative - for lots of advice on climate friendly travel choices.

Sign up to Somerset Car Share Scheme - it's free to join and there are hundreds of registered users across the county.
Try walking or cycling more short distances (a quarter of all car journeys in the UK are under 2 miles).
Check out Transport Direct for door-to-door travel advice, or Traveline for detailed public transport timetable information.
Check out Sustrans for information about the National Cycle Network and other cycling information.
Choose a more fuel efficient or alternative fuel car - visit the Environmental Transport Association for advice on what is the best buy.
Drive more efficiently - make sure your car is regularly serviced and its tyres are at the correct pressure, remove excess weight such as roof racks, drive smoothly without excessive breaking and accelerating and use higher gears.
If you're really keen, you could look into setting up a car club, like Yeovil Car Pool, where you can use a car pay as you go without the hassle and expense of car ownership. Contact Car Plus for more information.
