Schools take on climate challenge - Full Story
img
Over 700 7 – 11 year olds from 13 primary and first schools across Somerset have so far taken part in the climate change assemblies and workshops.
The school visits delivered by our Climate Change Education Officer, have taken her to all parts of the county and a further 11 are booked for the remainder of the campaign.

Through fun and interactive presentations, films and activities, the assembly and workshops aim to increase awareness and understanding of climate change, what the impacts could be and what we can do to tackle it.

Colourful props for use in the assembly and the Climate Change Challenge game showing the actions we can take to tackle climate change were specially made for the campaign.

Teachers have said:

“The children all had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the work you did with them. They were particularly interested in how climate change affects their local area, and this has made it very real and understandable for them.”

“It is a great introduction to a very important problem. It gives a lot of information – VERY WELL”

“Thank you very much indeed for coming into school last week to give a very good assembly and workshop on Climate Change. The children got a lot from it.”
